Adhering copper sheet/rool to block fence

2004

I have a slate/copper wall project. I am looking for an adhesive to adhere the copper (36 gauge roll) to a standard painted block fence wall. Each wall segment is 10 feet for a total of 160' of copper in 12" bands so cost and application is a concern. The slate is up and I am starting to grout before applying the copper. I was told by various dealers that most products are corrosive to copper and not to use, i.e Liquid Nails. There are no support issues as the copper is purely aesthetic. Any suggestions?

Sometimes you can best solve a problem by just avoiding it. Rather that attempt to adhere the copper to a painted surface, could you use mouldings, like those that are made to hold wood or melamine paneling, anchored to the wall with hidden masonry nails? I suspect that this gauge of sheeting would not buckle over 12 inches if only held by the edges. The moulding would run along both the top and bottom edges of the copper sheeting, and with the variety of colors available, one could probably be selected that would match, (or contrast), with the copper and slate. Sounds like a very interesting project!
