HASTELLOY STRAINER BASKET FOR USE IN HYDROCHLORIC ACID?
I have a customer at a pickling facility using 4 percent hydrochloric acid at 185 °F. Will a fabricated strainer basket of Hastelloy hold up in this environment? Is it the best material for this application?

Hi, Mike. I think it will hold up, but I also think titanium may be a better material for general acid exposure if there is not a particular structural reason for spec'ing Hastelloy.
