Searching for method to measure anodized layer thickness

I'm looking for a simple method of measuring / testing the layer thickness of an anodized aluminum (sample) part for a QC check. Is there a simple method for measuring this? What are the requirements?

Hand-held eddy current meters are fast and easy and reasonably accurate.
