Plateable filler metal for steel
hi, I fabricate metal parts for motorcycles and cars. so far I have painted all my work - I want to plate a steel fixture. there are some imperfections (voids) in the welds, and as it is light weight sheet metal I am worried about warpage if I try to add metal with my MIG set up. Is there anything I can fill these voids with that will not hinder the plating process. Several people have suggested lead or silver solder (i don't know if these work). but I wanted to know if there was any specific metal that does work. -Thank you

You can use pure tin or special tin/silver solder (Castolin product)!
