Please comment on our procedure for stripping of nickel-cadmium plate

According the procedures we have to strip Nickel-Cadmium plate in 2 steps in separate tanks:

1) Cadmium striping in solution of NH4NO3.
2) Nickel stripping in cyanide (CN) solution.

Explanation for this is that Cadmium can cause etching and corrosion on steel parts if stripping is done in cyanide solution simultaneous(in same time) in one tank. I'm asking for your opinion and suggestion?

Thankful in advance,

I do not think that the explanation is correct, but someone else may be able to give a more definitive answer. The bottom line is that Cad strips very rapidly in ammonium nitrate and very slowly in a cyanide strip. You should stick with your procedure.
