Looking for Cosmetic Specification for Gold Alodine

I am looking for an industry standard, general cosmetic specification for gold Alodine/chromate coatings. We have a customer that is very picky about the "consistency" of the gold Alodine coating. They specify the coating but offer no specs or cosmetic requirements. Since the coating appearance varies from lot to lot, the customer rejects the parts if they aren't just right to their Source Inspector. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Some people are opposed to the establishment of sample boards showing satisfactory and unsatisfactory cosmetic finishes, apparently because they feel that they lead away from pro-active process control. I don't agree, and feel that they are indispensable for situations like this. But I don't think you'll find any pre-established cosmetic standards, I think you and the customer will have to come up with your own.
