Giving steel a unique, aged look

I am going to be doing some metal work in my home and I am looking for a finishing product. I am looking for something that will give steel a unique, aged look. Possibly an acid dip with a clearcoat finish. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a similar product to "age" a metal kitchen island top. Any suggestions?

You can use this solution(if your steel is not stainless steel):20 gm tannic acid this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] +18 gm phosphoric acid+1 lit water, cold immersion or you can paint it on object, it must be waxed or lacquered or simply oiled!
