Can the hollows inside wedding rings be filled?

2003

Hello,

I have an engagement and wedding ring both in white gold, . The plating seems fine so far but both rings are hollow on the inside and seem to be causing terrible dermatitis on my finger. Within a few days of wear the wedding ring in particular (it is the wider of the two) causes bright red, flaky, sore skin. I have read that with hollow rings this is actually quite common, so I think this is the problem rather than some sort of allergy to the metal. What I would like to know is - would it be possible to get the hollow inside the rings filled in? Would the whole ring then need replating? Would the diamonds have to be removed? Hope someone can help, I really don't want to resort to new rings as I want to keep the ones I had on my wedding day.

Thanks,

Happily this problem has an easy solution with extra benefits.

Step by Step:

1. Buy a new tooth brush
2. Keep your old tooth brush
3. Brush your teeth everyday with the new tooth brush
4. While you are standing there at the sink use the old brush and soap and water to clean the hollow areas of your rings (everyday)
5. Rinse the rings well with hot water

Your skin will no longer be attacked by the stuff that is gathering in the hollow areas of your rings, your diamonds will sparkle and shine like new and your teeth will be healthy.

I am having the EXACT same problem and would like an answer. and no- the toothbrush doesn't cut it. Stuff gets INSIDE of the ring and I can't clean that out- I see stuff when I look inside all of the little holes.

Hi, Jane. You can get an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , which generates tiny scrubbing bubbles to remove dirt from crevices and holes. Another approach is boiling in vinegar in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil links] and peroxide, which many people report to be amazingly successful in letter 33777. Good luck.
