Design project on Teflon plating

I am looking to do a senior design project on Teflon plating for hair straighteners. Can you tell me any information on how this is done, the techniques used, problems that can occur, etc.? We have a very nice lab and decent funding.

Thanks so much,

You cannot plate Teflon (this is a DuPont trade name for PTFE). However, you can plate metal onto PTFE is you etch it in a suitable etchant. Unfortunately these tend to be based on fluorinated gases and done as a plasma discharge. If you want to coat articles with PTFE, this can be done by spraying a suspension and sintering it.
