Getting ISO-certification for only a single department

Q. We are a division of a connector mfgr., and looking after plating of various parts of connectors and assemble them partially. I want to know that according to ISO, is it possible to get ISO-CERTIFICATION for a single department of our division? OUR PARENT COMPANY IS ALREADY ISO.

Thanks,

thumbs up signSorry Hiren. I don't know. In my ignorance, I thought quality started with the attitude of top management -- so I hope not :-)

Q. I would be eager to know whether ISO certification can be obtained for a single activity (for example maintenance only).

A. I was an auditor for one of the ISO Registrars. The registrar you chose can guide you through crafting an audit and certification "scope" for any or all of your business activities. This can be a whole division, a single site, or part of a site (for example, the "automotive" or "aerospace" lines of a plating shop, but not the "commercial lines").

A. Hello, I've been browsing on the net to search for potential companies who wishes to get an ISO Certification. I am a qualified QSE (quality Safety and Environment) manager, just completing a Master in QSE management systems in an engineering school in the south of France.

The answer to your querey regarding whether we can get an ISO certification when you are a small company is YES. Because ISO is only a certificate, for that you will first have to set up a Quality Management System following the rules as specified in the standard ISO 9001:2000. Once this organisation is set up (it usually takes 18 months full time devotion), you can request an external certifying body to carry out an internal audit of the system (regardless of the size of the company or the sector of activity). And if everything is okay.

Hoping that my answer will be of some help, I wish you all a very Happy New Year.
