2003

Dear sir,

I would like to produce an aluminium product with 2 different kind of coating. What I mean is 2 colors in one product. What kind of masking ink should I use in order to anodize this product.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

First dye the piece with the lighter colour and do a mild seal to it. There is a product called non drying black ink which is resistant to acid & alkalies . Apply with a thinner on the required area. Use kevibit (a brown powder) to cover the same area so that the ink and powder stick to each other. Put it in an oven for sometime to see that the same melts and remove it. Let it come back to room temp and the solidified dry product can then be etched anodized coloured sealed with the second colour.

Remove the solidified oven baked product with a thinner (kerosene preferable and cheap).

Hi A product called Etch Resist Black XZ06 is available from Coates Inks. It can be thinned and hand painted or left at supplied visc' and Screen Printed 63T/cm or finer. As the other response, Kero or turpentine this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] are a cheap means of stripping this resist.
