Plating specification definition to prevent white rust

I've read that in the auto industry, they have defined a 96 hour salt spray requirement to 5% white corrosion. Is there an ASTM/SAE type spec that I can read to specify this requirement, that would apply to ASTM B633 & 653. And Thanks to Ted Mooney and the readers- just for being here...

Thanks for the kind words, Jon.

I think you may need ASTM ASTM B201-80(2000) Standard Practice for Testing Chromate Coatings on Zinc and Cadmium Surfaces in order to reference how you will determine whether the parts passed or failed in an ASTM ASTM B117 salt fog chamber. But if you are involved in auto parts, you also need to know that the European Parliament's End of Life directives have for practical purposes outlawed the use of hexavalent chromate conversion coatings on automobile parts, such that you probably will need to specify trivalent chromates and authorize or acknowledge the permissibility of a topcoat after the chromate. Some of our readers may be more familiar than I am with how you could specify the equivalent of a modern automobile manufacturer's plating spec without actually referencing a particular one.
