What substrates for fashion jewelry to insure good plating?
2003
Hi,
I'm starting a fashion jewelry company and need some urgent advice on what metals we should use in terms of durability/strength and for best plating results. I understand the most common metals used are zamac, tin, brass, pewter, etc.
Thanks,

All of these materials can be plated, so plateability may not be a major factor in your material selection. But I would say that brass is probably the least problematical of these four choices, an all-around great substrate, and will age the most gracefully. Others may disagree.
