Does VCI packaging cause the metal to suffer adhesion reduction?
Is there a potential coating adhesion loss to volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) protected metal when the coating is applied immediately after VCI packaging removal? VCI manufacturers claim their multi-molecular layer VCIs volatilize off in about 2 hours, others claim much longer protection.

Anything is possible. It might bring a more intelligent answer if the readers had any idea of what "coating" it is that you plan to put on the part after unwrapping it. I guess the old trial and error method would tell you. Scrap part trails might be an effective way to find out.

Adverse VCI (Volatile corrosion inhibitor) issues can be found by searching for VCI problems. These adverse health and performance issues are important since VCIs often are used in preservation of metals prior to coating or finishing.
