Watchmaker has problems plating silver solder

2003

I frequently use silver solder to repair areas of watch cases that are scratched, dented or corroded before I sand, polish and replate (brush on pin) the entire case with gold. Sometimes it comes out perfect and other times the repair silver solder areas show through and this sometimes cannot be corrected even after 3 repolishes and replates. Any suggestions would be appreciated and possibly a recommendation for a better solder?

Thanks,

I'm thinking you use too much heat when you solder. Sometime its good to use high heat but I think its better to use low heat and then work your way up. That is just my opinion.
