Need to plate acid copper to 200 microns without roughness

Hello everyone,

I want to plate 200 microns of copper on an Aluminium cylinder, followed by a 10 micron coating of silver. I'm using an initial alkaline cyanide copper for the first 5 microns and then acid copper plating with 125 A for 2.5 hrs, for the remaining thickness, but the finish which I get is very rough with visible dots. Please guide me about how to go in this process.

Please look into the process control parameters . There is no reason why it cannot be done. Filtration, anode and bath purity come to mind.

Dear Mr. Jones,

In your letter you have not cleared the procedure of plating. Are you plating the job in stationary position or in rotary system ? To achieve the better finish in copper plating implies the rotary system.
