Coating Steel with Zinc-Aluminum Alloy

High speed coating of zinc/aluminum alloy Is there a technique, other than molten metal bath, for applying a zinc/aluminum alloy to a steel substrate? I have been advised that electroplating aluminum is not feasible - is this true? Are other techniques such as electroless plating, vapor deposition a possibility. Are there other techniques worth considering? I am looking to obtain a coating thickness of the order of 1 micron. We are a manufacturer of ERW steel tubing thanks Bob

It is possible to plate aluminum out of molten salts, or organic solvents in a sealed environment. Alumiplate offers aluminum plating, and it may or may not be practical for the particular application.

Vacuum deposition processes are line-of-sight, so it may of may not prove feasible to vacuum plate your tubes.

The thickness you are seeking is very thin and probably not practical for hot dipping.
