Help me clean my kitchen floor with muriatic acid

I want to paint my kitchen floor and I can't get the glue off the concrete from the vinyl flooring that was on there before. I want to use muriatic acid this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , but I don't know what strength, if I wash with soap before painting and how long does it need to dry before applying the primer. I want to start this project soon, I would appreciate your help very much! Thanks!

I can almost guarantee you that the answer to your question is: "Boy I'm glad I didn't try that!".

The fumes from muriatic acid will travel away from where you are working and are highly corrosive and will etch any metal they get near. Search our site for dozens of wailings about damage to appliances by people who did this; if yours are stainless steel that's even worse.

Rayann,

You are on the wrong track. HCl won't help you but will sure cause you problems galore !

You will have to use a solvent. Which one? Ah, find out from vinyl floor layers what 'glue' they used and what solvent they perhaps used to thin it or to clean equipment.

Then open all the windows. Don't smoke! Let the solvent penetrate for a while.

Who suggested using hydrochloric acid? Yoicks!

The best way to remove adhesive is with muriatic acid this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] . I would recommend very good ventilation and a professional who knows what he is doing.

Thank you so much for your response. I was going to buy the Muriatic acid tonight. Instead I think I will call a vinyl flooring expert and ask them what they use to remove the glue. I think my week-end project will go much better now. Thanks again.
