Do cutting tools require recoating after sharpening?
Should a cutting tool that has been coated, be recoated after resharpening.

If the remaining coating is intact, it normally does not need recoating. Chrome or TiN are very hard coats that reduce wear. The tool steel portion will actually wear a little faster, so tend to keep a sharp cutting surface longer by constantly keeping a sharp edge of tough chrome. On the rest of the tool, the coating just facilitates the chip removal.
