Need a coating for copper pipe to prevent weathering and verdigris
Our exterior deck has railing balusters made with 1/2 inch steel rebar inserted into 1/2 inch copper plumbing pipe. We would like to clean the copper and then coat them to prevent them from weathering. They are only slightly discolored at the moment. The problem is that we aren't sure how or what to use to accomplish this. Our original plan was to let them weather, but we have had so many compliments about the unweathered copper that we have changed our minds.

I installed half inch copper pipe for balusters on my new deck and am curious what, if anything, you've done to keep the pipe looking like "day one".

A lacquer with benzotriazole ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] corrosion inhibitor like Incralac ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] or Permalac [adv: Permalac on eBay] sounds like the best bet.
