Sulfamic acid is generally a very good acid for chemical cleaning. However it is important to know what the deposit is that you are trying to clean. Some acids are much better at cleaning specific scales. If you can obtain a deposit and determine what it is , or send to me or another lab, for analysis, then a better recommendation can be made.
Also, during cleaning, analysis of the water for pH, iron, copper(the metallurgies of your system), as well as the mineral scale you are cleaning, can be tested to verify you are cleaning the scale and not dissolving the metals of your system. this will also tell you when to stop.
