"Modern Electroplating"
by F.A. Lowenheim

or eBay

or Amazon

A. Hi Ali. I don't know where Goran's formula came from, so I can't suggest a proper pH range. But Lowenheim's "Modern Electroplating" →
contains 5 formulas for platinum plating baths, plus a molten cyanide bath and an electroless bath, and it includes references to the original papers on those 7 baths.

But remember that proprietary baths are a more direct route to getting good plating than starting from 50-80 year old formulas. Also, although Aprana called them "recipes", remember that most people have a general understanding of cooking but no familiarity with electroplating, such that a recipe may be all they need for cooking ("... add three beaten eggs") -- whereas if you have no familiarity with cooking, such recipe instructions may be of little value. Good luck.

A. Hi Ali. I'm trying to help you, but I get about 50 new requests every day, and I don't have a spare minute beyond handling the postings here to do any research on the topic for you. The only way I can help you is by making suggestions for you to follow, which I am doing :-)

a). Find a distributor of plating processes in Tehran and talk to them about your needs.
b). Find someone local who has a copy of Modern Electroplating and read the subchapter about platinum plating.
c). Try to obtain reprints of the technical references in the Modern Electroplating text.
d). Superalloys are very passive, and getting them activated for plating is very difficult. A Wood's Nickel Strike might do it, but also take a look at ASM Handbook, Vol. 5, which has a chapter on activating exotic alloys. Good luck.
