How to remove dark spots created by spot welding stainless steel?

I need to find a way to remove dark discolor marks left from spot welding process involving Stainless Steel (type 304 and 304L).

Is there a product on the market that can be applied to the spot weld marks that would remove the carbon deposits with out affecting the #4 finish of the 304 and 304L type stainless.

The dark spots are typically too deep to remove with just a surface chemistry treatment without ANY change to the surface texture. Best possibility might be with a peroxide system, without going to hazardous chemicals. We have had quite a bit of success doing it electrochemically, but there is always some change to the surface texture, either making it duller or shinier. We have products that you can try in your application.
