Patina finishes on iron

Hi,
I am interested in learning how to apply patina finishes on wrought iron objects. I have no idea about patina, and a recipe would help.

Black patina for iron
20 gm tannic acid

15 ml phosphoric acid
1 lit water
Only oxide and grease free objects can be coloured! Solution can be sprayed or brushed. Objects must be lacquered or waxed!
Reddish brown for iron:
20 gm iron chloride
1 lit water
Solution must be wiped on grease and oxide free object(with soft cloth,very sparingly moistened).Every time object must be thoroughly dried and then you can repeat operation several times(5 X minimum).
