Using polyester spray putty for bathtub resurfacing

2003

Hi,

I resurface cast iron baths ..my question is,,,are polyester spray putties reliable and if so,what advice can you give me on correct application...I currently do any repairs with Bondo this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] type products, which I apply by hand trowelling on to surface then sand off,,,,I find wet sanding by hand works well as filler tends to block up paper..since some tubs have a lot of defects it often takes me days to get tub perfectly smooth...if polyester spray putty works ok(lasts)it would probably save me a heck of a lot of time...anyway if anyone can loan me some advice it will be much appreciated.. bye for now.

Rodney,

I have used a spray on filler on several jobs and have had very good luck. Currently I have two tubs that I did this on and they have been in service for about 5 years with no problem. I have been getting the spray polyester from Spies-Hecker paints. If you know about automotive finishes, Spies-Hecker is one of the best in the world. Of course I don't use automotive paint to refinish my tubs. I hope this will help answer your question.
