Using polyester spray putty for bathtub resurfacing
2003
Hi,
I resurface cast iron baths ..my question is,,,are polyester spray putties reliable and if so,what advice can you give me on correct application...I currently do any repairs with Bondo ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] type products, which I apply by hand trowelling on to surface then sand off,,,,I find wet sanding by hand works well as filler tends to block up paper..since some tubs have a lot of defects it often takes me days to get tub perfectly smooth...if polyester spray putty works ok(lasts)it would probably save me a heck of a lot of time...anyway if anyone can loan me some advice it will be much appreciated.. bye for now.

Rodney,
I have used a spray on filler on several jobs and have had very good luck. Currently I have two tubs that I did this on and they have been in service for about 5 years with no problem. I have been getting the spray polyester from Spies-Hecker paints. If you know about automotive finishes, Spies-Hecker is one of the best in the world. Of course I don't use automotive paint to refinish my tubs. I hope this will help answer your question.
