Installing Copper Counter Top
I would like to know how to install my own copper counter tops in my kitchen. I have seen many pictures and heard that others have done it themselves, yet don't know how to go about doing it.

We are planning to install copper countertops very soon and have a local distributor. But, I'm wondering if there is a way for us to
"antique" the look and then apply a clear coat of some sort to keep it looking that way.
thank you!

Probably the most powerful browning agent you can get is
liver of sulfur

. Dog urine also is reported to work (letters

Some people suggest that it's more practical to just install the copper and let it acquire stains and discolorations for a natural look (letter 13168).

Mendy,
You can purchase a light weight (36 gauge) copper and adhere it similar to laminate. You will apply contact cement to the back of the copper sheet and also to your counter surface. Using dowel rods, you can float the copper on the surface to allow you to move it around until you have it in the right position. Next simply remove a few dowel rods at a time while rolling the copper onto the surface using a laminate roller. When you are finished, you will want to spray a base coat of lacquer to seal the surface followed by a self-leveling epoxy coating. This will give you a durable and lasting surface that is very stunning to behold.
