Powder Coated Chemical Resistant Coatings

Our company distributes threaded fasteners, some of which are coated with a solvent or water dispersed chemical resistant phenolic or epoxy-phenolic lining by an outside company. We are interested in switching to a powder-coat product and doing this ourselves. Our current supplier specializes in wet-coat systems, and is understandably not interested in helping us. Are such products available? Where can I get more information about powder-coated lining systems?

Hi, Richard.

I've heard of powder coated fasteners but am not personally aware of their usage. Powder coating is rather thick, about .002" for even a thin thermoset. I'm not sure that it's thickness is compatible with the tight tolerances of many fasteners and the need to keep the socket or slot open -- but hopefully someone will give us a clearer answer about when fasteners can and can't be powder coated.
