White gold cleaning?

I have a white gold ring with 3 diamonds in it. I have noticed that the ring has a 'slight' gold tint to it now that wasn't originally there before... my question is : Does the gold need cleaning ? if so how would I go about doing this ? or Is this a low quality gold ? wasn't cheap when purchased.

Thanks in advance,

I am having the same situation as many others with my white gold ring turning yellow. I have been engaged for a year and a half and just noticed my engagement ring seems to be turning. The ring and wedding band were part of a bridal set. I just put the band next to the ring and they are completely different colors. I was curious as to what the usual price range was for replating with Rhodium and if I should try to fight with the jewelry store we bought the ring at or just suck it up and pay them to replate it.

My husband recently purchased me a 3-stone ring set in white gold. I was told when I bought it that white gold is not actually white, that it is dipped in something that makes it white, and that within six months to a year it would have to be redipped. I was quoted a price of $40 to have the ring redipped and was told that how often this has to be done depended on a lot of different factors, including what kinds of lotions, soaps, etc., that you used while wearing the ring, how your body chemistry affects the metal, etc. I went ahead and bought a lifetime service plan for $100 that would cover having my ring redipped as often as I need to have it done at no charge. I figured that it was worth the extra $100 up front in the long run since I plan on keeping this ring for a lifetime.

Hi, Wendy. We have a FAQ on Rhodium Plating & White Gold which will answer your questions, I think.
