Problem with brown swirls and specks in powder coating

2003

We manufacture exercise equipment that we finish with powder coating. We continue to have a problem with brown specks and swirls surfacing on our white finish when it exits the oven.
A microscopic examination reveals that the brown is not all the way through to the base metal.

Any expertise or experience in this area would be appreciated.

It sounds like it could be soot or other material falling on the curing powder in the oven. You may want to try cleaning out the oven and installing some incoming air filters on the combustion chambers if there are none already installed.

Otherwise I would say it's contaminated powder coat.
