Black Metal Waxes
Hi does any one know if there is any way to touch up black metal such as metal waxes (coloured) I know you can get wood stain ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] is there any such thing as metal stains I need to return the barrels of my winchester back to it's original state it has got rather mark and lost some colour. I don't want to paint it I thought there maybe some sort of product which I can rub into it to give it a black shine. What about black lead which is used for stoves.

Try a cold-bluing solution such as Brownell's Oxpho-Blue .
Be sure to follow the instructions.
