Pre-treatment alternative products
I have seen several products that provide simple alternatives for the pre-treatment process for powder coating. These are proprietary products such as Picklex® [affil links] but I would like to get some independent verification of their effectiveness. These products are probably not cost effective for a large operation but for a small shop they would be very convenient if the quality and durability of the finish is comparable to products treated conventionally. Does anyone have information or opinion on these alternatives?

Plating & Surface Finishing published a very detailed report on Picklex® [affil links] in the April 2003 issue, entitled "Non-Polluting Metal Surface Finishing Pretreatment and Pretreatment/Conversion Coating" by David Ferguson and Dr. Bruce Monzyk.
