Rust prevention in machined steel components
We are specialising in manufacture of precision machined steel components in CNC lathes where water soluble coolants are used. To avoid rust formation the components are soaked in dewatering oil. Still rust formation could not be avoided. Removing the rust by treating in a mild HCl acid solution, washing the component thoroughly and reapplying the dewatering oil does not help. Suggest a solution.

Water-based coolants for turning centers can be formulated with rust preventives. I recommend you discuss this further with your current supplier, or one that offers this type of product.

Water based rust preventives are manufactured in India. The machined components can be dipped or brushed directly without undergoing dewatering process. The coating dries to form a thin dry barrier film which can give protection ( indoor) up to 4 months
