Spangle formation in Hot Dip Galvanisation

Well I have my own inquiry. I want to know how the spangles are formed on the M.S. plates when the M.S.(Mild Steel) is hot dipped in a mixture of Zinc(98%) and other metals in a molten state (Tin, lead, antimony, aluminium). I am working and want to do R&D and would be grateful if you help me. I am from third world country and we lack good books and instructors here . looking forward to your response Sushil

The chemistry of steel, retention time of it, and zinc bath composition will influence the appearance of hot dip galvanizing after fabrication. Another great site to answer some detailed question about galvanizing is www.galvinfo.com. Look under GalvinfoNotes at the bottom of the page. It looks like #13 is what you are looking for.
