Bead wire Plating and effect of composition

2003

Dear Sir, Please through some light on following Points:

Point No. 1: What is the role of Tin in Bead wire Bronze plating system? Generally For getting better adhesion with rubber, Industry trend is to keep Tin content in Bronze composition is maximum 3 %. I would like to know what is the effect if we increase the Tin content from 3 % or we reduce it below 1 %.

Point No.2: Which type of Bead wire will provide good adhesion and also cost effective, if we have to choose from Brass coated and Bronze coated bead wire and why? With Best Regards, Sushil Mandot Scientist-C

Dear Sir,

The Stannous Sulphate is added to work as a binder. Increasing above 2% will reduce the malleability of the coating.
