Advantage of Galvanised Iron

I have 2 answer this question for a school assignment but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere but I hope that you can help. What advantage does galvanised iron have over ordinary iron?

It gives it galvanic protection as the zinc worn to the steel the zinc will rust and not the steel.
