Pickling of steel coils

Q. Dear sir,
I am working for a steel industry (finishing department)which deals with SAE 1018 & 1060 grade coils pickling. I wanted to know the parameters of the acids baths (regarding temperature and concentration) for uniform pickling of SAE 1018 & 1060 coils. Also give me a brief description and procedure for acid pickling.

looking forward your replay

A. Pickling of steel coils can be done either by H2SO4 or HCl. The later now in more usable. The strip is passed through 3 or 5 bathes at Temp.~85o followed by water rinsing and then drying by air dryer in order to remove the water remaining. Finally the strip is exposed to oiling to prevent rust formation and packing. By this method the coils can stand up to 6 month There are many types of processing such as continuous, batch or push pull lines. The acid concentration HCl is ranged between 2~16 % For a certain purpose, acid inhibitor may be used to improve the appearance and decrease the acid consumption.
