Lack of depth in deep etching stainless steel and aluminum

I am fairly new at the deep etching process on stainless steel, as well as aluminum. I have been using ferric chloride this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , at different strengths for both materials. However, I am finding that it takes up to 45 minutes+ to achieve any sort of reasonable depth. Can anyone advise me what formula to use to speed up the process?
