Electroforming Magnetic materials
I am interested in learning if anyone has done any electroforming of magnetic materials (in the range of 6-8 mils). Are there any alloys possible, or other materials? Thanks.
Patricia J. Frisch1998
Yes, Ms. Frisch, there are a number of magnetically hard and magnetically soft metals and alloys that can be plated. The MFIS CD-ROM showed more references than I had time to look up, probably 50 good references. Are you looking to make a permanent magnet or something softer?

Where could I get a copy of the MFIS CD-ROM, and how much does it cost?

Finishing.com now distributes this, and you can order on-line. Current cost is $295.

Ed. note 2008: Finishing.com no longer handles the CD-ROMS because it became an on-line service. Look up "Metal Finishing Information Service" in England.
