Basic definition of galvanneal steel

What is "galvanneal steel" Is it different from galvanized steel?

Khawaja Masood
- Karachi, Sind, Pakistan
2003

Yes, Galvanneal is different from conventional galvanized coatings. The galvanneal process creates a zinc-iron layer, instead of the usual zinc layer created during hot-dip or electrogalvanizing. You can obtain more information from producers of this product:

Hi, Khawaja. Thanks, Toby.

Perhaps the principle significance of the difference between galvanneal and conventional galvanized steel is that galvanneal is designed to be painted and is relatively easily painted whereas it can be troublesome to get reliable adhesion of paint onto galvanizing.
