Restoration of aluminum covers

I would like to know how to remove chrome from aluminum engine covers and how to polish and protect the aluminum after the de-chroming. I am currently restoring a 15 year old motorbike.

Dear Frank,

Look up Ho Chi Minh City yellow pages for nickel-chrome plating shops. Most shops located in Tan Binh or Binh Thanh districts will have chemicals to strip chrome and they have the equipment and expertise to polish your part as well with a minimal cost. I am sure you will not getting headache running around if you are a do-it-yourselfer. Good luck.
