Sealer to keep copper caps for turning black?

I have copper caps on the post on my deck. All of them are turning black. I have buffed them with a cleaner etc. but they turn black as soon as I finish. Does anyone know of a sealer than you can apply to keep copper from turning? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have checked several hardware stores and no one knows of anything.

Thanks for your help.

We used to spray a coating of Plastic on brass when I was in the military after polishing, this lasted quite a while, might be worth a try, don't know how it would hold up outside...
