To remove old paint on a porcelain painted lamp

I have an old porcelain lamp which has painting of ladies on one side and flowers on the other. This lamp was painted all over to cover the flowers and figurines. I can scrape off the gold paint in some spots but in the intricate ones it is hard. Is their any solvent that can be used and not damage the under painting, it also has gold on the raised outlines. someone out there should be able to HELP. I really don't want to ruin it. Thanks

Hello Irene,
I have a similar situation with two old porcelain lamps that were painted with latex paint for some horrible reason. Did you ever find a solvent that would remove the paint and not damage the porcelain finish? I would really like to clean these up, but am afraid it's a lost cause!

Thank you,
