Finish material going through automotive e-coat
We supply automotive antenna systems and are developing a system that will have a bracket mounted the vehicle frame. The bracket will be assembled to the bare metal frame and go through the entire e-coat process. We need to supply the bracket with some sort of finish on it to prevent rusting during shipping and inventory. What would you suggest for a plating? Right now we have a clear zinc dichromate specified. Will that withstand the OEM's process?
Thanks,

Unless you know that "dichromate" to actually be a misnamed trivalent chromate, I think you would get in trouble over the new hex-chrome-free standards anyway. If the inventory requirements are minor, perhaps a black oxide and oil process would suffice?
