RECHROMING CLASSIC CAR PART

Q. I BOUGHT A 65 IMPALA SS AND I HAVE A FEW PARTS THAT I WANT TO HAVE RECHROMED SUCH AS MY FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS, GRILL, AND THE MOLDINGS AROUND THE WINDOWS. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS A GOOD PRICE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN BUY TO RECHROME THE SMALL PARTS?

ANYONE PLEASE!

A. Forget about trying to replate parts yourself. Unless you have a lazy 100 grand to experiment with. Good plating is not cheap and cheap plating is not good. You may be able to get it all done for a couple of thou. But the dollar value between Australia and USA being what it is, count on more.

A. Hi John. Although I can't give you a price, I can refer you to our "Intro to Chrome Plating" which explains just about everything you'd want to know including what is actually involved, and why quality is crucial to chrome plating (it's not just about looks; rather, chrome plating with any porosity forces steel to rapidly rust). Best of luck.
