Reduction of fatigue strength caused by conventional anodizing of aluminum
Q. We need some data on the amount of reduction of fatigue strength caused by conventional anodizing of aluminum. (Sulfuric Acid processes or other mineral/organic acid processes, excluding Chromic). We understand that anodic coating thickness or coating weight is a factor, along with specific alloy. Is there a source for this type of data?

See The Surface Treatment and Finishing of Aluminum and Its Alloys by S. Wernick, R. Pinner, P.G. Sheasby, 6th Edn., chaps. 6 and 9 (2001). The type of sealing and the ambient relative humidity affect the fatigue behavior, in addition to those variables mentioned above.
