Roll scraper

I am looking for a proven solution to clean the surface of the rolls of a steel rolling mill. By cleaning, I mean removing any external material which may stick to the roll surface. I am specially interested in scraper systems that already may exist for similar applications, particularly for light metal rolling applications where light metal particles may easily stick to the roll surface.

Dear Mr. Sarban,

On the small Ruesh and Stanat rolling mills used to roll precious metal sheets or foils, wiper devices are available from the manufacturer. The wiper device is a spring loaded backer plate with the same curvature as the rolls, attached to the sides of the mill. A heavy felt pad is attached to the curved backer plate on the reverse side with 2 screw on clamping devices. The spring load holds wiper devices tightly against the upper and lower rolls. The felt pads do a good job of picking up any chips and keeping them off the rolls and rolled stock. I hope this gives you some ideas.

Best regards,

Ali,

Have you tried the kind of roll brush technology used in aluminium hot rolling? There are a couple of experienced suppliers in this area.

Best regards!
