Prepping aluminum swingarm before polishing

I want to polish the swing arm on my motorcycle. It appears to be clear coated. Once I get it prepped I know how to polish it I just need to know how to prep it. Should I chemical strip it? If so do I use a regular paint stripper? or do I need to sand it? and if so what grit papers should I use start to finish?

Thanks for any help,

Dear Jim, use an ordinary methyl chloride based paint stripper. Wear all the recommended safety gear, do it outside on a cool overcast day. Leave for a couple of hours and water blast off.
