Protecting High Polish Magnesium

I have some cast Magnesium products that customers would prefer in a high polish finish. While I am aware of some compounds to assist in hand polishing (these parts are relatively small and quantities low) to bring out an acceptable level of polish and brightness (the bulk of these products leave a film that I assume would prohibit a clear coating from adhereing), I'm not aware of a easily available clear coating to protect the parts for the long run. The parts will be used in an outdoor environment, frequently come in contact with dirt and various greases and oils. Moreover, the parts are likely to be cleaned relatively often with household detergents and or citrus type cleaning agents. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Dear Rob ,

I suggest you contact Ecology Coatings Inc , Corona California , they have a process that might work , it is a Clear UV cured Coating which is hard and relatively resistant to most chemicals .

But a better solution would be to consider having them Nickel / Chrome plated , if done properly they will look good for years !
