Trouble shooting in wall thickness growth in barrel plating

Chrome plating, in barrel there is growth of wall thickness on both ends i.e. top and bottom length of the barrel is around 4.5 feet,1cm dia and top ,0.5 feet should not be plated our trial done.

1. We circulated the solution.
2. We given enough exit of the gass and gassing solution from top.
3. Even after reduce the length of the anode.

That is a tough part to plate. From the bottom, the anode should be about 2X the diameter higher than the bottom to hold down the heavy plate. Quite possibly 3 diameters. Now the top where you do not want to plate the top 6 inches will have to be masked off if you want no plate. Since the outgassing goes up and will carry charged solution that will plate out, you would have to set the top of the anode about 4 diameters lower than the top edge of what you want to plate. Anode to cathode distance is critical. What are you using? Are you plating the ID or the OD? If you are using tank anodes and plating the OD, You will have to use shields or robbers.
