Powder Coating Specification

Where can I find a specification for powder coating metal sign posts?

Hi Thad, your question is a bit too broad. Generally the specifications are written by the end user and/or the paint company itself for the end user. In your case, you don't say whether the sign posts are indoor or outdoor in nature. You will probably not get much in results by calling competitors either...

I would go to your customer and ask them everything about the product to determine their view on topcoat and the product performance. Find out how long they intend it to last. Some criteria that you might add in a specification would be:

UV stability
Impact resistance
Mar resistance
Mandrel bend
Tape/Crosshatch adhesion
Salt fog test
Chemical resistance
and more

Many companies will want specific procedures as to how their product is cleaned, phosphatized, topcoat applied, cured and tested. Each company differs. This insures uniformity upon their product.

If you are looking to simply grab another product specifiation and use it for your signs, it can be done, but make sure you meet the exact same specifications.
